Mattress toppers were originally
a thin quilted pad of fibre or feathers that sat on top of the mattress to
provide extra luxury and warmth – aimed at the older market.
More recently with the introduction of memory foam, mattress toppers are now predominantly
available in different thicknesses of memory foam and available with and
without covers.
It is basically an inexpensive way of improving
the comfort of an existing mattress.
