“Allow me to take you to bed” he said
“Pray Sir, for what purpose” was her reply
“We’re conceived and born in a bed,” he said
“And, ‘tis likely, in a bed we shall die”
We spend over a third of our lives in a bed. For those of us fortunate enough to have a full lifespan of ‘three score years and ten’, possibly more nowadays, that means somewhere in the region of twenty-five years. A staggering amount of time to be lying down, twenty-five years, you might think. But look at it this way, that’s over 9,000 days and, in hours, it’s in excess of 200,000 spent lying down in bed.
Most of us are conceived in a bed, born in a bed, spend many hours sleeping (and, of course, some other stuff) in a bed and, if we’re lucky, we spend our last breath in a bed. So why doesn’t our choice of bed, the place where we spend so much time, more time than any other place in the household, take on more importance to us?
For most of us, having interior décor that’s currently in vogue, the most up to date sound system, the latest HD, flat screen TV or the most enviable motor car all take priority over having a bed that really is the most suitable for us to get a good night’s sleep in. And yet a good night’s sleep is an absolutely vital ingredient in the mix if things that provide us with a healthy waking lifestyle.
Being good in a bed isn’t about your sexual prowess. It’s all about getting the rest your body needs to be fully able to take you successfully through the waking and working day. And, for that, you need a bed that provides the support and comfort that your, very individual, body requires to get a good night’s sleep.
